On Monday 8 May the Epping Distribution Centre of the Epping Forest Foodbank (formerly Loughton Foodbank) opened at The Box in St John's Rd, Epping. It is being run in partnership with CTED (Churches Together in Epping and District) and all the volunteers come from local churches. The Epping Distribution Centre will be open every Monday except Bank Holidays 3.30-5pm.

The first donation received at the Centre was food from the Quakers which arrived as we opened last Monday. The first client came after half an hour.

People are referred to the Foodbank by agencies such as the CAB and the most usual reason is a delay in benefit payments. Clients exchange their referral voucher for a 3 day emergency food parcel over a cup to coffee and a chat with a volunteer who may signpost them to further support. Since the Epping Forest Foodbank opened in June 2013 it has provided 20,000 meals to people referred who live in Epping Forest. 304 people had an address around Epping.

Food can be donated at Tesco in Epping.
