St. Mary's Church, Theydon Bois

Mission Committee

St Mary’s Mission Committee, under the leadership of John Eaton and Vicky Hicks, has two aims:

 To increase awareness of Christian mission in this country and overseas; and
 To raise funds to support our chosen Mission organisations and projects.

In the last two years we were able to donate more than £23,000 to charitable organisations and projects supported by St Mary’s. We would not have been able to do this without your help, so a heartfelt thanks to you all.

Events 2012
Thanks to all who supported our Lent Soup Lunches, by making and serving delicious soups and puddings, setting up tables, cleaning and clearing, inviting your friends and most of all by supporting us week by week. We hope you all enjoyed coming along as much as we enjoyed welcoming you. The lunches raised a fantastic £2,030 for mission, over £200 more than last year. We could not have done this without you.
And again for your support for The Real Easter Egg Campaign 2012. Real Easter Eggs put Jesus back into Easter; they are the only Easter egg with the Easter story on the box and a free Easter story booklet inside. They are made from Fairtrade chocolate and a portion of the profits goes to the Traidcraft Exchange, a charity that works to enable poor producers in Africa and Asia to grow their businesses, find markets, and engage effectively in trade. You bought sixty Real Easter Eggs. Thank you.

St Mary’s is a Fairtrade Church
We believe that we are making a difference by switching to Fairtrade. We serve Fairtrade tea and coffee after our 10.30am service and use Fairtrade products where we are able. Please consider swapping something in your cupboard for a Fairtrade product, including tea, coffee, sugar, icing sugar, biscuits, rice cakes, cocoa powder, brazil nuts, biscuits, cereal bars, chocolate, wine and much more. Fairtrade clothes are also more widely available than ever and Fairmined gold is used by an increasing number of jewellers.
